12 month visit

Cooper has his 12 month visit today. I'm interested to get his weight and height but not looking forward to him getting his shots. The MMR and Menjugate.

I gave him milk for the first time this morning.  One part milk to 2 parts formula. He was asleep before he finished the bottle. I don't know if it had anything to do with the warm milk but we're officially on our way to cutting out the formula. Woo Hoo.

That's it for now. Gotta run and get this boy ready for his appointment.

And yes, I know I still owe you the rest of his birth story.... it's coming, I promise.

Moment

I had a moment this morning. A moment of thankfulness. A moment of pure mom happiness.  Cooper and I were dancing around the room and he was laguhing soooooo hard. The deep from the belly type laugh. We went on like this for the good part of 15 minutes. Then it hit me. Cooper is now 1.  Canadian maternity leave ends at 1 year. If I was going back to work, this would have been my starting week back at work and that moment would have never happened. He'd be in daycare or home care and I would have been behind my desk doing some sort of office work. Not to say that there wouldn't be dancing around the room, laughing moments if I was at work but just not that specific moment this morning.  I'm thankful. Thankful that it's not fight between hubby and I that I don't return to work yet. Thankful that we're able for me to not return to work yet. And thankful that I was even blessed to have Cooper.

Happy first Birthday Cooper

Today is officially Cooper's first birthday.  This time last year I was calling the hospital to see what I should I do. I had been having contractions since 2:30am but they were 10-15 minutes apart and still fairly mild.  They said, take a shower, eat some breakfast and take your time coming in.  So I did. I had the nicest, hotest shower. Ate some breakfast (I can't even remember what  I ate). Hubby phoned his mom and I phoned mine. We got ready and headed out and we were there by 11:00.  The nurses were so nice and when the doctor came in to examine me he started giving me the "go home and relax. it's not time yet" speech. By the time he had finished the internal exam, he said "okay, never mind. We're going to admit you and put you on pitocin and congratulations, you'll be having your baby by dinner time".  I thanked him as I knew he did something to get things going.

By 1:30 I was admitted to labour and delivery and we went to the room where I was going to deliver Cooper.  I was impressed with the room and happy that I had my own bathroom.  We never got to see the birthing rooms when we did our hospital tour as it's always so busy and there's really never an empty room so I had all these weird and crazy mental pictures of what I thought the room might look like.  The nurse came in and started chatting while she hooked up my IV.

Then the pitocin started.

And that's where I have to leave you folks.......  the party starts in a few hours and I have a ton of stuff to prepare and what seems to be a 1 year old baby that is refusing to nap.
